Am going to Organize massive campaign against APC- Bode George

The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Chief Bode George, says the loss his party suffered in the presidential election has strengthened his resolve to ensure victory for his party in Lagos.

He, therefore, said that he would strategise and lead a massive campaign against the All Progressives Congress, which has been in power in Lagos for the past 16 years.

George told our correspondent during a telephone interview on Wednesday that he would lead the campaign of the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, like an army general.

He said, “I am here and I will be at the centre of operation. The people of Lagos also want a change and we are going to be here to lead the battle. The battle is on and the people of Lagos want a change and we will ensure that we get it right.

“Lagos people know that this administration has mismanaged their resources. We are not leaving anything undone. We will reach out to the people during the campaigns.”

George said he would never defect to another party. “I will remain a member of the PDP till I leave this world,” he said.

The PDP leader denied reports that he said he would go on exile following the victory of Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential polls.

He said he would rather travel outside the country for a while in order to finish writing his autobiography, saying he had been unable to finish the book because of his busy schedule.

He said, “I have been travelling long before now and now I need a long rest. I am 70 and I need to tidy up my memoirs and if you want to do that, you need a lot of time away from all of the hassles. But it does not mean I will no longer be a Nigerian. I have no personal grudge against Buhari or all the other people.

“We are in two different parties with different ideologies and if he is the President, I have no objection and I wish him the best of luck. The break will give me time. Rather than running up and down to Abuja, I will be there (abroad) writing my memoirs and doing other things for myself. Of course I will come back, my mother is still alive. I am not scampering out of Nigeria.”

MUST READ: Significance of Good friday

Why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?

For Christians, Good Friday is a crucial day of the year because it celebrates what we believe to be the most momentous weekend in the history of the world. Ever since Jesus died and was raised, Christians have proclaimed the cross and resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation. Paul considered it to be “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, all in accordance with what God had promised all along in the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3).

On Good Friday we remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died by crucifixion as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins (1 John 1:10). It is followed by Easter, the glorious celebration of the day Jesus was raised from the dead, heralding his victory over sin and death and pointing ahead to a future resurrection for all who are united to him by faith (Romans 6:5).

Still, why call the day of Jesus’ death “Good Friday” instead of “Bad Friday” or something similar? Some Christian traditions do take this approach: in German, for example, the day is called Karfreitag, or “Sorrowful Friday.” In English, in fact, the origin of the term “Good” is debated: some believe it developed from an older name, “God’s Friday.” Regardless of the origin, the name Good Friday is entirely appropriate because the suffering and death of Jesus, as terrible as it was, marked the dramatic culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.

In order for the good news of the gospel to have meaning for us, we first have to understand the bad news of our condition as sinful people under condemnation. The good news of deliverance only makes sense once we see how we are enslaved. Another way of saying this is that it is important to understand and distinguish between law and gospel in Scripture. We need the law first to show us how hopeless our condition is; then the gospel of Jesus’ grace comes and brings us relief and salvation.

In the same way, Good Friday is “good” because as terrible as that day was, it had to happen for us to receive the joy of Easter. The wrath of God against sin had to be poured out on Jesus, the perfect sacrificial substitute, in order for forgiveness and salvation to be poured out to the nations.

Without that awful day of suffering, sorrow, and shed blood at the cross, God could not be both “just and the justifier” of those who trust in Jesus (Romans 3:26). Paradoxically, the day that seemed to be the greatest triumph of evil was actually the deathblow in God’s gloriously good plan to redeem the world from bondage.

The cross is where we see the convergence of great suffering and God’s forgiveness. Psalms 85:10 sings of a day when “righteousness and peace” will “kiss each other.”

The cross of Jesus is where that occurred, where God’s demands, his righteousness, coincided with his mercy. We receive divine forgiveness, mercy, and peace because Jesus willingly took our divine punishment, the result of God’s righteousness against sin. “For the joy set before him” (Hebrews 12:2) Jesus endured the cross on Good Friday, knowing it led to his resurrection, our salvation, and the beginning of God’s reign of righteousness and peace.

Good Friday marks the day when wrath and mercy met at the cross. That’s why Good Friday is so dark and so Good.

Double gong for Arsenal as Oliver Giroud and Arsene Wenger are named Premier league player and Coach of the Month

Arsenal have scooped 2 Premier League awards after Arsene Wenger claimed the Manager of the Month award for March and striker Olivier Giroud took the Player of the Month gong.

Wenger's men continued their assault on the Champions League places with four consecutive league wins last month, beating both Everton and West Ham at the Emirates as well as claiming away successes at QPR and Newcastle.

Taking 12 points from a possible 12, the Gunners moved six points clear of fifth place Liverpool in the run for a top four spot, while also moving just one point behind champions Manchester City, who lie second.

Winners: Giroud and Wenger took the respective awards for March French hitman Olivier Giroud picked up the player award after netting five goals in his four league appearances.

In picking up the award the France international - who also scored for Les Bleus during the recent international break - stopped Tottenham star Harry Kane from becoming the first player to claim three consecutive Player of the Month crowns.

Newly-capped England international Kane also struck five times in four matches for Spurs, a sequence which featured a first Premier League hat-trick for the 30-goal striker - in Spurs' 4-3 win over Leicester City. But Giroud's consistency over the month - scoring in each of Arsenal's matches - earned him the award instead.

The former Montpellier centre-forward opened the scoring in Arsenal's 2-0 win over Everton, before netting another in the 2-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road.

He followed that up with a clinically-taken opener in the 3-0 win over the Hammers, before nabbing both in the 2-1 win on Tyneside.

Story of Addiction by Hazardous

Episode 16

I ate my breakfast and I managed to call Motunrayo 10am and 11am on the dot. I was about going out to see Emeka when Kikelomo and Bidemi entered my room. I was shocked and silently praying that they ved not discovered my escapades with them.

Me: hi guys

Kikelomo&Bidemi: hello

Bidemi: we came to apologise about what happened yesterday. Because if you had not stayed back with Kikelomo yesterday., you would have ironed your Dad's clothes.

Me: I'm alright now.. thank you. Nobody forces me to do what I don't want to do. My staying back was solely my decision.

Kikelomo: Okay oooo.... we are going to the cinemas and we want you to accompany us if you are chanced.

Me: (see wahala ooo) sure... which cinema is that? (I hope this is not a set up ooo)

Bidemi: constatin cinemas

Me: (next street) good... am I okay like this? (turning around)

Kikelomo: na cinema we dey go na not burial ceremony.

We all laughed and Bidemi excused herself to go to the ladies.

Immediately she left, Kikelomo jumped off her seat and started kissing me. I tried restraining her but she just kept going on (that was when I knew that this girls wan set me up). We continued kissing until we heard the sound of flushing from the restroom. Bidemi came out and we all set for the cinema.

We got to the Cinema around 12 : 45pm and the movie we intend watching starts 1pm. So we took our time to snap picture with different backgrounds. My mind just Flashed that I have failed to call Motunrayo now for 2 consecutive hours. But I still cherish my phone, so I had to ignore her at least for now. Bidemi liked some of her pictures on my phone and she insisted on sharing some of them on my Facebook.

Kikelomo and I excused her to get some pop corn. We dint spend up to 5mins and we returned to where Bidemi was.

She was in tears. That was when I remembered that I dint delete Kikelomo's messages.

Bidemi: Who's Motunrayo?

Me: she's a friend. Is that why you are crying?

Bidemi: so what is going on between both of you (pointing towards Kikelomo and I)

Me: what do you mean?

Bidemi: dont play dumb with me... you know what "I hate both you" (crying and running away).

Now faced with Kikelomo.... her eyes was filled with so much rage.

Kikelomo: dint I asked you to delete those messages?

Me: I forgot to... I'm sorry

Kikelomo: it's too late for that... so you collected Motunrayo's number at the party without even informing me.
Me: em... em... em....

Kikelomo: you are just a lying bastard... (she walks away from me)

I called out her name and stretch out my right hand to hold her back. The next thing I heard was 'gbosa' for my face.
My phone and popcorn all scattered on the floor while she zooms off.

People were just staring at me and I felt like disappearing from that place. I couldn't move for 5mins.

A guy came up to me and put his arm around my neck. He was heaven sent. He acted as if we came there together. He just dragged me out of the cinema and I explained everything to him with tears in my eyes. I don't know this guy but I felt comfortable with him.

He told me that his name is Tunde and we exchanged our contact.

Me: thank you very much oooo. I have never been disgraced publicly like this before

Tunde: I said you should not worry. By the time I hook you up with bigger girls. They will come begging you back.

Me: just because of text message.

Tunde: you are still new in the game and there are rules to be followed.

Rule 1: never leave a love text message on your phone
Rule 2: never leave a love text message on your phone

Me: Okay.... I will love to know more about your rules.

Tunde: no problem.... I like you and you are too cute to be treated like that... I will fix you up. Got to go. I will holla you later.

Me: Okay friend.

We parted and I took a bike to my house, even though it's not too far from my house. I don't want any okada man to insult me today again.

MUST READ: 22 health benefits of Lime

Lime occupies an important place among the fruits that possess medicinal properties. The seeds, flesh and rind of this fruit have medicinal properties. Lime juice possesses healing and curative properties. This fruit has been mentioned in ancient Indian and Chinese medicinal texts due to its health benefits.

1. Treats Scurvy:
Scurvy is a disease caused due to the deficiency of Vitamin C. It is characterized by frequent infections in the form of cold, ulcers on the tongue and mouth, cracked lips and lip corners, spongy, swollen and bleeding gums etc. Being packed with Vitamin C, lime is extremely effective in curing scurvy.

2. Gum Care:
Deficiency of Vitamin C can also lead to gum problems. As stated above, scurvy can cause bleeding and spongy gums.Often ulcers and microbial growth are caused due to physical trauma. Limes contain flavonoids, which inhibit microbial growth and along with potassium, facilitate the healing of ulcers and wounds.

3. Eye Care:
The antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties of limes are beneficial for your eyes. The antioxidant property of Vitamin C protects your eyes from aging and macular degeneration while flavonoids prevent infections.

4. Treats Arthritis:
Arthritis is caused due to the accumulation of excess uric acid in the body. This uric acid is a waste product that is normally removed through urination. But when excess uric acid builds up, it worsens the pain and inflammation of arthritis. Citric acid found in citrus fruits like limes dissolves the uric acid, causing the elimination of greater amounts through urine.

5. Treats Gout:
Gout is caused by the accumulation of free radicals or toxins in the body, primarily uric acid. Being a wonderful source of antioxidants and detoxifiers like Vitamin C and flavonoids, lime can help reduce the number of free radicals and detoxify your body, preventing gout.

6. Treats Piles:
Piles can be defined as an uncomfortable condition that occurs in the anal region, causing bleeding and discomfort during excretion and general activity. When left uncured, piles can even lead to certain forms of cancer. Limes can help heal ulcers and wounds in the digestive and excretory systems, thus providing relief from constipation, which is the root cause of piles.

7. Treatment Of Fever:
Lime and lime juice possess natural fever reducing qualities. In case of high to moderate fever, the patient should be given lime juice and water along with other fruit juices to bring down the temperature to manageable levels.
High concentrations of Vitamin C in citrus fruits help lower temperature naturally.

8. Treatment Of Common Cold:
High amount of vitamin C in limes not only treats common cold but also increases the resistance of the body towards common cold.

9. Aids Digestion:
The refreshing fragrance of lime can make your mouth water even before consuming it. The acids present in this fruit facilitate smoother digestion by breaking the macro molecules of food. Flavonoids are compounds found in the fragrant oil extracted from lime. These compounds stimulate the digestive system by increasing the secretion of digestive juices, bile and acids.

10. Treats Dehydration:
Lime juice is a refreshing drink that provides quick hydration and rejuvenation besides being rich in Vitamin C. It also helps to cure fatigue and vomiting bouts.

11. Treats Cystitis :
Cystitis, also known as urinary tract infection, is an inflammation of urinary bladder caused due to lack of hygiene or allergic reaction to drugs or radiation therapy.
Limes have a high content of potassium, which helps eliminate the toxic substances and precipitates that get accumulated in kidneys and urinary bladder. Limes also possess disinfectant properties that can help cure infections in the urinary system. Besides, it prevents prostrate growth and prevents blockage of urine caused by calcium deposits in the urinary tract. In case of urinary tract infection, lime juice boiled in water, should be taken every couple of hours to get relief.

12. Treats Peptic Ulcers:
Peptic ulcers generally develop in the inner lining of your stomach, esophagus and upper small intestines, leading to a lot of abdominal pain. The acids in lime help reduce gastric acidity by causing an alkaline reaction in the digestive system. Besides Vitamin C, limes contain flavonoids, such as limonoids like Limonin Glucoside ,which possess anti-oxidant, antibiotic, anti-carcinogenic and detoxifying properties that facilitate quick healing of peptic and oral ulcers.

13. Beneficial For The Heart:
Limes are rich in soluble fiber, which can lower blood pressure level as well as LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol. This soluble fiber also cures inflammation of the blood vessels, providing protection against heart attack, strokes, and heart disease.

14. Lowers Cholesterol:
Limes contain a flavonoid called hesperidin, which has been shown to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the body. If you are suffering from increased cholesterol levels, it is advisable to boost your hesperidin levels by consuming more of limes.

15. Aids Weight Loss:
Lime benefits weight loss. Lime juice has been traditionally used in several weight reduction programs and is a great refresher and antioxidant drink. Lime juice is naturally sweet but extremely low in calories. It contains citric acid, which is an excellent fat burner. To lose weight, add 1-2 teaspoons of raw organic honey and juice of a fresh lime to 8 ounces of warm water. Drink it early in the morning on empty stomach to get beneficial results within a week.

16. Good For Women’s Health:
This citrus fruit contains calcium and folate, two vital nutrients for post-menopausal women as well as those in the child-bearing age. One fresh medium sized lime contains 22 milligrams calcium and five micrograms folate. Women in these phases should make lime a part their diet to get some relief.

17. Treats Respiratory Disorders:
The flavonoid rich oil contained in lime extracts is used as an ingredient in anti-congestive medicines like vaporizers, balms and inhalers due to the presence of kaempherol.
Scratching the peel of lime and inhaling it provides relief from congestion and nausea.

18. Prevents Formation Of Kidney Stones:
Whether taken in fresh or in concentrate form, lime juice contains more citric acid than orange or grapefruit juice. Citric acid naturally inhibits kidney stones made of crystallized calcium. It is advisable to use fresh lime juice squeezed into water instead of commercial juices to get maximum benefits.

19. Beneficial For Diabetics:
According to the American Diabetes Association, citrus fruits like lime are beneficial for diabetics, due to several reasons. Firstly, the high levels of soluble fiber in limes help regulate the body’s absorption of sugar into the bloodstream. This prevents the occurrence of blood sugar spike, which are risky for diabetic patients. Secondly, like most citrus fruits, limes have a low glycemic index. They do not cause unexpected spikes in glucose levels, thus adding to the benefits for diabetic patients.

20. Prevents Cholera:
Though now eradicated in many parts of the world, cholera continues to be a fatal disease in some places. Fortunately, limes and other citrus fruits can help prevent the occurrence of cholera. Lime juice, when added to potentially infected water can prove to be an effective disinfectant. This juice, when consumed regularly by the patient who has been exposed to cholera infected water, can reduce the ill effects of this deadly disease.

21. Anti-cancer Properties:
The limonoid compounds present in limes have been shown to possess anti-carcinogenic properties, which help prevent cancers of the colon, blood and stomach. Though the exact effect is yet to be known, scientists have observed through research that the antioxidant limonoids can cause the death of cancer cells. Besides, they stay active in your blood cells for longer and can fight more free radicals than green tea or dark chocolate.

22. Other Benefits Are:
Treatment of Dark Spots on Skin, Treatment of Acne and Blemishes,Treatment of Dandruff, Anti-Ageing Properties; For Glowing Skin, Hair Growth, and shiny Hair.

APC slams Alao Akala over "Sai Buhari- Sai Akala" posters, describes it as "disgusting"

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state.

Campaign posters bearing the pictures of Messrs Buhari and Alao-Akala with “Sai Buhari, Sai Akala” boldly written on them have flooded particularly Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.Akala buhari.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Publicity and Strategy of the Oyo State chapter of the APC, Olawale Sadare, described the development as “another shameful act coming from enemies of the good people of the state”.

“Not a few people found it unbelievable to see the picture of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Alao-Akala’s campaign posters,” Mr. Sadare said. “Since Wednesday evening when those disgusting posters were sighted in parts of Ibadan, a good number of concerned citizens have been expressing their amazement at the development.

“Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state view the action of the sponsors of such obnoxious campaign materials as a desperation taken too far. It is indeed another in the series of grand delusion which most members of the opposition have been feeding the public with in their bid to hijack power and return the state to the era of bad governance, official corruption and impunity.”

He added that Mr. Buhari, given “what he has always represented”, would not “contemplate throwing up a corrupt element for an election or appointment”.

In spite of the antics of the opposition in Oyo State to mislead the public, the APC remained confident that its candidate and incumbent Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, would be re-elected for an unprecedented second term on April 11, Mr. Sadare said.

Read Area fada(Charly boy)'s tribute to President Jonathan and Prof. Jega

Article was composed by Charly Boy. Read below...

I must first congratulate Mr. President, Goodluck Joanatan for his maturity, magnanimity and statesmanship by being the first to congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari on his win at the polls,e no easy sha. Accepting defeat. This is a sign of a shift in the right direction. Nigerians should be proud of the freest and the fairest election ever! Elections in Africa, over time, have come to be a time of despair for contesting candidates, and for the citizenry whose energies at seeking decent leadership for their countries have always been a worthless effort.

It is also a time for the opposition to endure all that comes with an uneven political playing field such as harassment of opposition leaders and their members as well as the abuse of state machinery to further intimidate opposition
supporters and retain government. For the electorate, it is again, a time when they have to be fed on a diet of lies,
misconceptions and falsehood, those similar to folktales. In short, tales by moonlight.

Since the birth of our democracy, it has never been said that incumbent administration lost presidential spot; even
though we have seen a few States like Oyo where incumbents have never returned to that seat.

In the same vein, elections have always been marred with clear signs of malpractices until the 2011 polls that saw the installment of Jega as the Electoral Boss. For the first time,we had an election that was adjudged by all as free and
fair, as was evident that the people’s choice emerged. This year again, history has been repeated and made even
better. These elections have been ruled by not a few to be free and fair; which might, for the first time in history,
change the history of oppositions and power of incumbency.

I should probably say that this man Jega is a man of many firsts, besides his obvious qualities of courage and
tenacity.

I have never been into Nigerian politics but when it comes to identifying and celebrating deviants (in a good way), I
really do for obvious reasons: I am one myself. This time around we need to give it to this man Jega. He deserves
our standing or sitting ovation.
I wish that our youth can learn a thing or two from his administration, his willingness and ability to take in
pressure, not break, stay focused and deliver on set task not minding whose ass is fucked.

I want to now see a Nigeria where our youth will rise up and take the challenge to do things right even in the face of
great opposition and going outside the norm. A nation where the youth are driven by the desire to do what is right
and not what is normal, bearing in mind that the annals of history have no space to feature men who repeat history,
rather, men who deemed it worthwhile to go out of their way, break protocols, create new realms and standards.
Jega is a lesson in calmness, a brilliant Professor and am very proud of him. Today, the International Community is
full of accolades for Nigeria because of this achievement.

Everybody, including the super powers, has one thing or the other to learn from this to better their own. Now, that's
unbelievable as commendable!
Say what you may about Jega, failed card readers, lateness of INEC officials to polling units, late accreditation, late
night voting, announcing of election results in series as in soap operas, whatever; this man is a moving train. He
knows what he's doing and Nigerians better know that.

In my opinion, and I think I speak for many, the success of the 2015 presidential elections is a vote for Jega.
Once again, I salute your courage Attahiru Jega, history, I am sure, has a place for men like you. Once again our young democracy seems maturing as elections can be saidto reflect the will of the people. I can’t judge if that 'will' however, is the best alternative to our young democracy
but we sure have joined the rest of some other African countries like South Africa, Benin Republic, Cote d’Ivoire,Senegal and Ghana, who have taken the courage to move away from the ruling party syndrome.

So fellow Nigerians, with a standing ovation wherever you're reading this, raise your glasses, let's doff our hats as
I propose a toast to the focused, undeterred, visionary, tenacious, resilient and outstandingly brilliant Professor,
Atahiru Jega!!

Buhari vows to Crush Boko Haram within 2months

President Elect, Muhammadu Buhari has reassured that his administration will crush the Boko Haram militants within two months of his assuming office.

General Buhari spoke yesterday evening during an interview with Christiane Amanpour on CNN, monitored in Lagos.

He said there is insecurity in the north-east and in the Niger Delta regions just as he explains “we know how they started and where they are now and we will rapidly give attention to security in the country. And I believe we will effectively deal with them in two months when we get into office.”

He said the Federal Government made some mistakes in its fight against Boko Haram and his administration will addressed the issues. Buhari however stressed the importance of the support and assistance of Nigeria’s neighbours: Niger, Cameroon and Chad to help checkmate the militants.

“We will be needing the cooperation of neighbouring countries such as Cameroon, Chad and Niger. There were efforts made by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, but it was not good enough and it came rather late,” he said.

But where did the Jonathan administration go wrong.
Buhari drew attention to the poor showing of the Nigerian military in the fight against Boko Haram and explained thus:

“We expected the Federal Government four years ago to sit down with these countries and make sure they do not allow the terrorists free movement across borders, training facilities and movement of weapons.

“These were only done a few months ago and we have seen how Cameroon, Chad and Niger are fighting Boko Haram more than Nigeria is doing until recently. Really we have seen enough and we have enough law enforcement to face Boko Haram squarely.”

Buhari is confident that under his government, the Nigeria Army will perform differently. He also said the performance of the military was affected by corruption in the system.

“They will…if you recall, the Nigerian soldiers out of all ethical expectations were granting interviews to foreign journalists, saying they were being sent to fight terrorists without proper weapons

“And then the National Assembly attempted to conduct a hearing to find out how much money was approved for training and weapon in the last three years but that hearing was scuttled by the administration.”
